Flip Book 

Ideas

A flip book or flick book it is a series of pictures or photos that vary gradually from one page to another. When you turn the pages really fast it looks like a video or an animation.

To create a good flip book you will need around 50 photos and they have to be taken in less than a second.

Idea #1
I will take photos of cars going past me. I will take about 100 photos by using a multiple photos option on my camera.

Idea #2
I will photograph a person dancing and jumping in the air.

Idea #3
I will photograph someone's hand drawing something on a piece of paper.

Darkroom research

Darkroom is a room which allows the processing of  light sensitive photographic materials like photographic film and photographic paper. Darkrooms have been used since 19th century and they are very useful and even though nowadays there are different and easier ways of developing photos, people still use darkrooms.



Photographic printing is the process of producing a final image on paper for viewing, using chemically sensitized paper. The paper is exposed to a photographic negative, a positive transparency (or slide), or a digital image file projected using an enlarger or digital exposure unit such as a LightJet printer. Alternatively, the negative or transparency may be placed on the top of the paper and directly exposed, creating a contact print. Photographs are more commonly printed on plain paper, for example by a colour printer, but this is not considered "photographic printing".

Unit 5 Task 1a - research

It's a contemporary image which I've found using the books in the library. It shows movement in many ways. The photographer used flash so people on the photo are not blurry but the background is. You can't see the people moving but you can see the emotions and you can imagine what would happen next.
It's a single image. The techniques used create a very good image, showing the movement but in a different way.
If a photographer used multiple images/long exposure that photo could look a little bit better but it would loose its identity.
The photographer probably used a digital camera and the image is very colourful.

It's a contemporary image which I've found using internet.
This image was taken using long exposure and that makes it look so good and interesting. This image was taken using a digital camera and colour. You can see the movement and the way the planes fly and the city at night.

It's an long exposure image and it's black and white.
It was created many years ago and it looks good because it gives a very big impression of movement People are almost too blurry to tell if it's a big crowd or just few people.

To take this photo I had to shake my camera and turn it upside down. I wasn't shaking my camera fast, I was trying to do it steady and use a circle motion to create that effect. I like it because it gives the impression of spinning around a person or an object.

To capture the movement I asked Amy to shake her head really fast. I've kept the camera still by putting it on the stairs. I like this image because it's different to the other one and it shows different type of movement.

To photograph it I asked Rachel to stay in the same place but wave so it would look like only the hands are moving and the rest would stay still. I don't like this photo because it looks like her whole body is moving and the image is almost too blurry. You can still see the motion but it's not a good photo.

To take this photo I've asked people who were sat on the stairs not to move. I was sat opposite them and I was shaking my camera to the left and to the right. It looks like they are about to fall down and that's why I like that photo. It creates the impression of movement even though the two people on the photo were not moving.

I've asked Rachel to dance very fast because I was trying to capture the movement of the whole body. I kept my camera still. I like this photo because you can't see her face or arms and that shows how fast she was dancing. I like it because it's different to the other photos but it still shows the motion.
